About the Project

Three Dimensions, One Vision

The Band, the Orchestra, and the Community are not disconnected projects, but an integrated sonic ecosystem sharing a singular philosophy of sound.

Radost Band

The core group established to address fundamental inquiries in modern acoustic music. Fusing Indian raga principles with early European temperaments, micro-intervals, and original repertoire.

Radost Orchestra

Founded in Moscow in 2014. Contemporary music on an orchestral scale: rock-fusion, organic textures, polyrhythmic momentum, and expanded sonic horizons beyond traditional composition.

Radost Music

A broader collective of musicians and educators. Popularizing folk roots, acoustic research, and cross-cultural pedagogy, co-created with Indian percussion maestro Radheshyam Sharma.

The Musical Idea

In an increasingly saturated world, human perception yearns for acoustic spaces that resonate naturally with our nervous system and psychological well-being.

Radost Band is among the few ensembles that deliberately challenge the limitations of standard 12-tone equal temperament. The musicians integrate sonic elements unfamiliar to modern ears for centuries: microtonal shifts, natural harmonic overtones, and complex rhythmic cycles.

This is not experimentation for its own sake. It is an intentional return to natural acoustic sensitivity — to resonance, pure intervals, and physical vibration.

Foundation

Radost Band forms in late 2008, launching masterclasses and concert tours across major cultural hubs.

NAMM Musikmesse

Featured live performance and masterclass at the international NAMM Musikmesse exposition in Moscow.

Radost Orchestra

Expansion into a full-scale orchestral ensemble, awarded the honorary “Leading Creative Collective” distinction in 2017.

Synthesising Russian, Indian and European music

Russia Beyond · Rossiyskaya Gazeta

The Radost ensemble took shape when Russian musicians began exploring new pathways in contemporary acoustic culture. Today their experience bridges distinct musical traditions — deliberately embracing tonal elements unheard by European listeners for generations.

“Radost Band embodies its own distinct sonic philosophy — inviting guest virtuosos to contribute spontaneous improvisations and vibrant new colors to familiar themes.”

Art-Obstrel Festival
